Hey, the site looks different! I upgraded to the latest version of Bootstrap, which wasn't too bad, but I really did not like the default color scheme so I tried my hand at picking out my own colors. That was a lot of work. I'm not a UX person so I don't really know what colors are good, but I kind of wanted to use purple and orange so here we are. I thought upgrading would make dark mode simpler, but it really wasn't.
Hopefully everything looks okay! I'm sure I missed something though.
Apart from that, I've added a few more translations:
- boat
- to pour (over something)
- to pour soup over something
- to blow
- long (time)
- soft (mushy)

Oh man, all I wanted to do was add translations for the word "smart", but then I went down waaaay too many rabbit holes. One of the translations is ghao5, and the commonly used Chinese character for it is not one that's included in the common system CJK fonts. I didn't even know about the term "CJK" before a few days ago. I spent three whole days looking at different fonts and reading about how to include custom fonts on a website and how to optimize the performance and about how the licensing works...
Anyway, it's been added. Go check out the translation page. Hopefully the page doesn't take too long to load!
I've also added a bunch of entries for "x days ago" and "in x days". These were originally in the Sentences, but they're not actually sentences, so I've moved them over to the Words (it's under Date/Time).

So I made a change in the navigation menu at the top. Under the "Words" section, the links will actually take you to word lists rather than flashcards. And from there, you can view flashcards. I just found that this is more helpful for me. I spent a ridiculous amount of time yesterday just trying to vertically align buttons, but that's just web development I guess.
I'm also just trying to add more words that I already know. I like to think of this app as a collection of all the Teochew words that I know, but there are definitely more words that I just haven't thought of! Anyway, here are more translations that have been added since the last update:
- to close (as well as "to turn off", because they're the same word)
- medicine
- English
- first (as in, you gotta do this thing first)
- dough
- few (the adjective form, which is different from "a few")
- snake
- airplane
- to hold
As I'm doing this, I'm continuing to reorganize the categories. Eventually, I want to add a feature for generating a custom set of flashcards, where you can pick multiple categories at once. But that might be a bit before I get there.
Finally, I've added a little bit of extra detail to the Dialects lesson!
