Dialects/Accents of Teochew
What is commonly known as the Teochew language actually consists of several different dialects or accents. There are three main categories of accents that are represented by the three rivers in the Teoswa (or Chaoshan) region of China.
This site mainly uses the Gekion accent. One of the most notable features is that the -ing and -ik endings are not used in this accent. Typically, words with -ing become -eng, and words with -ik become -ek.
